Providing a bicycle lanes should be consider. If no bicycle lanes are available, how can you convince someone to go for a bike? As much as you wanted to be green if you don't have enough security, than I'd rather not go for a bike.

Fascinating ideas though, to start with bicycle and pedestrian trafic. I must admit the cynic in me was thinking even as I read, "ya, like any developer would actually go for that." But the optomist says, "Well, if someone doesn't start those 'ripples' the idea will definitely not survive, let alone become reality." So here's to you for having the courage to be "the nut who presented THAT idea!"
