Leading up to International Day of Climate Action this Saturday, the City of Cape Town has declared this Green Week in the city.
During Green Week, which runs from 19 to 23 October, the City will launch an Energy Efficiency Forum for commercial buildings, an Event Greening Forum for the conference and event industry and a campaign to promote fuel efficient driving. It will also have a stand at the Green Building Council of South Africa's annual convention, and is conducting carbon trading training for City staff.
The GBCSA convention begins at the CTICC on Thursday, with accreditation training sessions the day before. The City will be highlighting its green building guidelines, and how the City is actively encouraging new buildings to be designed green from the start, and building owners to incorporate energy efficiency and other greening elements in existing buildings.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu has added his voice to a group of prominent individuals supporting the climate action campaign on the 24th.
