The State of the World 2009 report takes the view that the goal of limiting the global temperature rise to 2 degrees C (as adopted by the UN teams negotiating under the IPCC) poses unacceptable risks to natural systems. But it also outlines 10 key challenges to avoid this, and provides a range of options for tackling these challenges.
